Whatever be your poison – sales, tech or the graveyard shift – there is one antidote. The outdoors. The open sky. A few feathery clouds floating by. The breeze in your face… Doesn’t it put a spring in your step and a song in your heart?
Get out. Take a walk. Reclaim your bond with nature. There’s no better answer for tired souls. We are blessed to be in a country where nature abounds and there is no dearth of picturesque, heavenly trails. It doesn’t take much. For once, chuck that five-star vacation and go simple. Dust off that old rucksack. Dig out the beaten pair of sneakers. Grab a water bottle and you are set.
You would be surprised by how much there is to explore even at an hour’s drive away. Walk through paddy fields in a village on the outskirts, lose yourself in a botanic garden, stop by that park you always whiz past on the way to office, casting a wish-I-was-there glance.
We lose so much of our lives staring at false partitions, living in cubicles within cubicles, and chasing a false sense of fulfillment by going on expensive, plastic-like vacations. You can begin small by reconnecting with nature. It will give you the kick needed to try out the better known trails – Sandakhpu, Ladakh, the valleys of flowers… You will also be rebooting your health. Repeated studies have shown the being outdoors does wonders to your self-esteem, sharpens your focus, eases depression, strengthens immunity and very often gives you the perspective to think out of the box when you feel boxed in by life.
Enough of squeezing through cubicles and corridors. Take your heart and mind outdoors. Walk with Nature.
Today is the day.
